Meet Dr. John R. Phillips, III, D.M.D
Dr. John R. Phillips III is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and has been providing expert orthodontic care in the Birmingham area since 1988. A graduate of the University of Alabama, he earned his degree with honors and was elected into Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious academic honor society. He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry, where he was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honor fraternity for academic excellence.
Dr. Phillips completed his specialty training in orthodontics at the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in New Orleans. Dedicated to staying at the forefront of advancements in orthodontics, he is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Southern Association of Orthodontists, Alabama Dental Association, and the Birmingham District Dental Society.
Outside the office, Dr. Phillips is an avid musician, playing both guitar and trumpet. He also enjoys restoring English cars, water sports, and tennis. He and his wife, Kate, reside in Mountain Brook and have two grown children, Robert and Madeline. His daughter, Dr. Maddie Phillips, is also an orthodontist and sees patients at PT Ortho’s Hoover and Jasper locations.
