John R. Phillips III, D.M.D.
Dr. John R. Phillips III is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. He has practiced orthodontics in the Birmingham area since 1988.
Dr. Phillips attended the University of Alabama, where he graduated with honors and was elected into Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest academic society. He obtained his doctorate degree in dentistry from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honor fraternity. Dr. Phillips completed his specialty training in orthodontics at Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in New Orleans.
He maintains professional memberships with the American Association of Orthodontists, Southern Association of Orthodontists, Alabama Dental Association and the Birmingham District Dental Society.
Away from the office, Dr. Phillips is an avid musician. He plays guitar and trumpet for various groups. He also enjoys restoring antique cars, hunting and tennis. He and his wife, Kate, reside in Mountain Brook and have two children, Robert and Madeline.
Mark A. Todd, D.M.D., M.S.
Dr. Mark Todd is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. He has provided quality orthodontic care to residents in the Birmingham area since 1998.
A native of Athens, Alabama, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He obtained his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. Upon graduating, he received the Deans Medal, the highest award given to a graduating dental student. He was also inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor fraternity.
Dr. Todd completed a residency in orthodontics and obtained a Master of Science degree in the specialty at the University of Iowa.
He received the Earl E. Shepard Award for achieving the highest score in the nation on the American Board of Orthodontics Phase II Written Examination.
To stay knowledgeable of the most current advances in orthodontic treatment and technology, he maintains professional memberships with the American Association of Orthodontists, Southern Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association and the Birmingham District Dental Society.
Outside the office, Dr. Todd enjoys playing golf, tennis and basketball. He and his wife, Ashlee, have two daughters, Kathryn Taylor and Sullivan.
Wendell H. Taylor, Jr., D.M.D., M.S.
Dr. Wendell H. Taylor Jr. is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Alabama Dental Association and the Birmingham District Dental Society. He has a special interest in the treatment of TMJ disorders.
A native of Birmingham, Dr. Taylor received a bachelor's degree from Auburn University. He then graduated from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in 1983, where he obtained a Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree. Following dental school, he completed a residency in orthodontics and received a Master of Science degree from UCLA. Dr. Taylor has practiced in the Mountain Brook area since 1985.
Upon graduating from the residency program at UCLA, he received an Award of Special Merit from the American Association of Orthodontics, one of only three such awards given to researchers worldwide that year.
Dr. Taylor married Louise Sewell in 1981. They have two boys, Hill and Conrad. His hobbies include competitive masters swimming, sculpting wildlife in bronze, archery, golf, and maintaining a farm in Hale County.
